Lets celebrate mediocrity!

I have it on good authority that 'Britain's Got Talent' star has either been cast or is in the process of being cast in 'Love Never Dies' the sequel to ALW 'Phantom of The Opera' thanks to a friend at Her Majesty's Theatre who shall not be named.

Boyle came to the limelight after she performed on 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'WOWED' audiences with a rendition of 'I Dreamed A Dream' from 'Les Miserables'. Now I don't dislike the woman, I just think she is being celebrated for looking like a doner kebab bathed in custard and having the vocal ability of any elderly female in a town choir.
Is this all part of the industries reach out programme to the general public? Lets put a celebrity in a production and we'll have them cueing down the street for returns! It has been seen on many productions as of late, Chicago is notoriously known to star washed up Z-List celebrites; recently Jerry Springer has headlined and when you're getting a washed up talk show host to star in a west end production you KNOW things are dire.

The fact is there is plently of talent being processed through our conservatoirs to fill the entire city of London. Get the 'pop idols' off the pedestal and start putting some REAL talent on show - after all we paid for it!

Summer is Buzzing!

Good Evening All!

So Joseph closed and a lot of us we're quite happy about that, probably a small minority - but we were still VERY HAPPY. There's nothing like a reality TV show to cast a theatrical production (sigh). So yes, the closest any man has ever got to actually becoming a wizard is in town with this brand new show 'Enigma'. I'll have to try and get myself a seat for this one, but to let most of you know it is a very limited season and closes at the end of July. You will all know Derren Brown is a master of NLP and many other techniques which makes his show one of a kind.

Try and catch it if you can!

So Derren is awesome, yes we know this. But even more awesome is what follows him at the Adelphi. The Rat Pack - Live from Las Vegas. This evening of entertaiment brings alive Frank, Sammy & Dean right onto our stage, its toured endlessly in different formats. (I managed to catch Christmas With The Rat Pack) and it is superb. So make sure you get to see this autumn filler, we'll just have to see what follows!

Rumors are buzzing all around my friends! Rumors of a stage adaptation of Steven King's 'The Shawshank Redemption'. It premiered in Dublin last month and supposedly The Daily Mail reports that talks have been finalised for its transfer to the Wyndhams after Jude Law finishes the season.

All in all its shaping up to be a good summer!

Breathing Fire,
B

Good Morning Neverland.

Good Morning Neverland!

Well its 3:30am. The sun has yet to rise and I'm still all awake, hurrah and all that. So basically I've had a pretty rough couple of months its all been good character building however. Due to a series of unfortunate events (plug) I had to leave GSA (Drama School). I however took part in a competition entitled 'The Voice of Tomorrow' and managed to gain a few contacts there!

So I'm a jobless bum at the moment. Theatre is a hard cookie to crack! So with the advice of a good friend of mine - I stormed the theatres for jobs as a crew worker! "HI HERE'S MY CV, ITS GOT WAITERING - CUSTOMER ASSISTANT AND ALSO BARWORK... CAN I DO LES MISERABLES NOW!?"

The answer to the above statement is probably no. I have heard nothing from the theatres I applied for. I need to sleep with a master carpenter clearly.

Anyhow in latest news - Spring Awakening closed! Awh wern't we all very very sad :( Its a pity that such a rowsing new musical has lost its spark already. Its all to do with this big depression we're in. I'm sorry folks but we're turning into America now. GIVE ME THE BIG DANCE NUMBERS AND HAPPY SHOWS, MORE COLE PORTER!

Sister Act fits this bill perfectly. The production is lavish and stunning and the lib is a good bit of humour. It is shallow in every aspect but apart from that its a good bit of harmless fun. The score is Disney, so lets leave it at that. Loving my free comps for that show (Cheers James).

Apart from that I cannot hack enough life out of my brain to talk about more theatre, but hopefully I will update more with some indepth details about what my personal take is on whats going on in theatreland and culture at this moment in time.

Take care all you lovely people - Don't fear the Dragons.

B
